The Story Behind Original Penguin
In 1955, a man named Abbot Pedersen was on a business trip on behalf of the Munsingwear brand. After having a few drinks before his flight, Pedersen found himself at a taxidermy shop, where he purchased a stuffed penguin. He and Pete the penguin headed off to the airport to head back home to Minneapolis. Pete was a great companion to Pedersen, who in a state of intoxication, knocked the head right off of Pete’s body. At this point, a stewardess used Pedersen’s necktie to secure Pete’s head back to his body. And thus, the logo of Original Penguin was born!
